The Virgil

The Virgil is one of my favorite music venues, its small, the air is thick and the light comes through from all angles in beautiful ways. Since I will be shooting there again this week, I re edited some images from the last time I shot there in 2017. I never got to a place where I felt completely happy with the colors, so studying this old group of show photos might help me for this next night. It has a lot of colors that I have a hard time getting in harmony, but the musical experience is always memorable!! I ended up shooting a lot more video and therefore much less photo, which feels like the reason for a lack in quality images!

Travis

Travis Scott, from Fools Gold Day Off in 2015. Looking back at these files I see so many inefficient and strange decisions I made at the time, in all photography related choices, how I handled the files, organized, shot, color, basically everything ha ha… so these are what I’ve found interesting when re editing. Shooting a Travis Scott show is an awesome experience in itself! I never got to any finals that I think really stuck, but here are some ideas.

Too many versions of the same thing

I checked back with a folder I used to edit on and off of a show in Echo Park in 2015, I came across one photo I made 40 versions of. I loved testing out the variations of color that surprised me so I will be putting a few of them here along with some other photos from that same night. I loved the atmosphere and the thick air, it let light come through in a really fun way.

Re edits of my first 2nd shooter experience

I decided to pick an old folder of images that I really loved from 2015. I was a 2nd shooter doing behind the scenes and auxiliary photos for a photoshoot in downtown. I have only shot models in a studio during a lighting class, so this experience was a really exciting one for me. I loved being able to have a room full of natural bright light, the clothes and design were amazing to me! It was a major contrast to my music related recording studio or concert photos where the light is dark, the control is very limited or non existent (but still my favorite scenario to work in). As I re edited these I played around with things I normally do not factor in completely, like grain as a major element and some different color stories, sometimes I cant decide between black and white and color so here I will put both sometimes. An experiment it was and very fun to revisit :)

I reopened some photos from Osaka, Japan, although I never found any images that I really love from that trip I’ll share a few that I worked on, as well as some songs that I listened to often during that trip!

Starting off

Hello!!

I figured I could start a blog posting images as I go through old hard drives and re edit old photographs that I find. I’m going to freestyle this and see how it goes. For this first post I will be putting up a set of images from an old trip to Ibiza and Spain. I’m going to try to add links to some music that I listen to while editing as well!!
